Questions From Surrey Businesses

What is managed IT?

Managed IT means a company looks after your business technology for a monthly fee, instead of you hiring an IT person or calling someone each time something breaks. That usually includes a help desk for staff, troubleshooting and onsite visits, updates, security, backups, setting up new staff and planning what to replace. For a small business, it works like having an IT department without hiring one.

How much does managed IT cost in Surrey?

Fully managed IT for small businesses in Surrey typically costs $100–$250 per user per month, depending on what’s included, how many devices each person has and how much onsite work is needed. Co-managed IT, where you keep an in-house IT person, is usually $50–$150 per user per month. A free IT review gives you a real number.

Is managed IT cheaper than hiring an IT person?

For most businesses under about 40 staff, yes, by a wide margin. One full-time IT hire costs a salary plus CPP, EI, benefits, training and tools, and still leaves you without cover when they’re away. Our managed IT vs in-house calculator runs the numbers with BC wage data.

What’s the difference between managed IT and co-managed IT?

With fully managed IT, we’re your whole IT department. With co-managed IT, you keep your in-house IT person and we back them up with a help desk, monitoring and security tools, after-hours work and holiday cover. The split is agreed in writing.

Do you work with home users?

No. We only support businesses, so we don’t repair home computers or personal devices. That keeps our team focused on the systems businesses run on.

Do you offer 24/7 support?

No. Our help desk works Monday to Friday, 8am to 5pm. Updates and maintenance run after hours, and the monitoring software runs all the time, but we don’t staff round-the-clock support. If your business needs that, tell us at the review and we’ll be straight about whether we’re the right fit.

Do you come to our office?

Yes. Most problems are fixed remotely because it’s fastest, but technicians visit offices, clinics and warehouses across Surrey, Delta, Langley, White Rock and the rest of the Lower Mainland for hardware, network and installation work.

How long is a managed IT agreement?

Most managed IT agreements run for a fixed term with a notice period. The terms are written in plain language and you see them in full before you sign. Ask about the term at your free review; our guide to choosing a managed IT provider lists what a fair contract includes.

What happens in the first 30 days?

We meet your team, collect passwords and vendor contacts, install monitoring and security tools, check the backups, document the network and fix the quick wins. At day 30 you get a first report and a short list of priorities with costs.

Can you take over from our current IT provider?

Yes. We plan the handover so nothing is lost: admin passwords, domain and licence accounts, backups and documentation are collected before the old agreement ends. You don’t need to be on good terms with your current provider for it to work.

What size of business do you work with?

Most of the businesses we support have between 5 and 150 staff. Smaller offices are welcome, and we’ll tell you honestly if occasional help would cost less than a monthly plan.

Do you only work in Surrey?

Surrey is home, and we work across the Lower Mainland: Delta, Langley, White Rock, Richmond, Port Coquitlam, Maple Ridge, Abbotsford and Vancouver. Remote support works the same everywhere; onsite visits are planned around the drive.

Is cybersecurity included?

The essentials are part of every outsourced IT plan: endpoint detection and response, patching, multi-factor sign-in, email filtering advice and monitored backups. Larger security projects, like a full assessment or staff training programme, are quoted separately.

What is the free IT review?

A no-obligation look at your current IT: computers, network, Microsoft 365, backups, security and how staff get help today. It usually takes an hour or two, and you get a short written summary of what we found, whether you work with us or not. Book a free IT review.
