Back up your IT person

Co-Managed IT for Your In-House IT Team

Keep the IT person you trust. Give them a help desk, proper tools, after-hours patching and someone to cover their holidays.

Co-Managed IT

Back Up the IT Person You Already Have

Plenty of businesses with 30 to 150 staff have exactly one IT person. They know every system, every password and every quirk. They’re also the help desk, the network administrator, the security team and the person who gets called on holiday. Something always slips, and it’s usually the important work that never feels urgent.

Co-managed IT splits the job. Your IT person keeps the work they’re best at and the decisions that need inside knowledge. We take the rest: overflow tickets, after-hours patching, security alerts, monitoring, documentation and cover when they’re away. They get the tools of a full IT department without having to buy and run them alone.

The split is agreed in writing before we start, and it can change as your business does. Call 604-359-5284 to talk it through, or bring your IT person to a free review.

What’s included

What Co-Managed IT Covers

01

Help desk overflow

Password resets, new-user setups and “my email isn’t working” calls handled by our help desk, so your IT person can finish a project.

02

Monitoring and patching tools

Remote monitoring, patch management and remote-access software your IT person can use too, without buying their own licences.

03

Security stack and alert triage

Endpoint detection and response on every computer, with alerts looked at by our team first and escalated when they matter.

04

Extra hands for projects

Office moves, laptop refreshes, Microsoft 365 changes and server retirements, staffed so one person isn’t doing it all at night.

05

Holiday and sick cover

Someone who already knows your systems answers when your IT person is away, so nobody has to call them at the cottage.

06

A second opinion

Escalation for hard problems, design reviews before big purchases, and documentation that doesn’t live only in one person’s head.

How it works

Four Steps to Get Started

  1. 01

    Meet your IT person first

Before anything else, we sit down with them. What’s working, what’s piling up, what they’d love to hand off.

  2. 02

    Agree the split

A written list of who handles what, how tickets move between us, and who has which access.

  3. 03

    Tools in, documentation shared

Monitoring and security installed, a shared ticket system, and documentation that both sides can see.

  4. 04

    Monthly check-in

A short meeting about what came in, what changed and whether the split still fits.

What it costs

Pricing for Co-Managed IT

Co-managed IT typically costs $50–$150 per user per month in Surrey, depending on how much your IT person keeps. Because they still handle part of the work, it costs less than a fully managed plan, and you keep the inside knowledge they bring.

When Co-Managed IT Fits

Your IT person hasn’t taken a proper holiday in two years. Tickets wait while they’re on a project. Security tools are installed but nobody has time to read the alerts. A big change, like retiring the server or moving offices, keeps getting pushed back. These are the usual signs.

It also fits when your IT person is leaving. A few months of overlap means their knowledge gets written down while they’re still there to answer questions, and you can then decide calmly whether to hire again or move to a fully outsourced IT department.

Manufacturers, distributors, clinics and multi-office firms across Surrey, Delta and Langley often run this way: one capable insider who knows the business, backed by a team with more hands and tools.

Questions

Co-Managed IT: Common Questions

Will co-managed IT replace our IT person?

No. The point is to keep them and make their job manageable. They stay in charge of the decisions that need inside knowledge. We take the work that’s better done by a team.

Can our IT person use your tools?

Yes. In most co-managed setups your IT person gets access to the same monitoring, patching and remote-support tools our team uses, with their own login.

Who has the final say?

You and your IT person do. We recommend, document and carry out the work we agreed to handle. Changes outside that list are discussed before anything happens.

What does co-managed IT cost?

It depends on how much stays in-house. A typical range in Surrey is $50–$150 per user per month, below a fully managed plan because your IT person keeps part of the work. The free review gives you a real number.
